Important Changes to CITB Grants & Funding – Coming 8 January 2026!
CITB are making some significant updates to its grants and funding offer to keep support sustainable and targeted where it will have the biggest impact across the construction industry.
Here’s what employers need to know
🔧 Short Course Training – Big Changes Ahead
Short courses will no longer be funded through the Grants Scheme, except for Plant Operations, Scaffolding and other specialist courses (full list on the CITB website).
Funding for short courses will move fully to Employer Networks (ENs).
Courses booked before 8 Dec 2025 will still be honoured at current rates (with evidence).
Pre-8 December bookings completed between 8 Jan–31 Mar 2026 will also be funded.
🤝 Booking Training
Employers should now work with their local CITB adviser to identify needs and book through Employer Networks.
💷 Employer Network Funding
CITB will match-fund 50% of eligible courses.
Construction H&S courses funded at 30% of average market rate.
The EN budget is fixed annually, ensuring fair distribution throughout the year.
First Aid training will no longer be funded.
🎓 Qualification Grant Updates
Attendance grants removed for long qualifications.
A new £600 achievement grant introduced.
Level 7 qualifications will no longer be supported (excluding Level 7 Apprenticeships and Scottish Advanced Craft Certifications).
🏢 Large Employers
Will not be eligible for EN funding after 31 March 2026.
A new tailored offer is being co-designed for release on 1 April 2026.
