A building site operative had a bucket of concrete dropped from height on to his head. He was wearing beanie- style hat under his construction safety helmet.
The bucket skidded off the hat and simultaneously pushed the hard hat off his head, which slipped because of poor fitting (due to the beanie). The speed and friction of the movement of the hard hat over the knitwear underneath, resulted in the knitwear ‘grabbing’ the head, taking the operative’s scalp with it.
It was a very serious accident, and while the individual is going to be left with lifelong disfigurement, he was fortunate not to have died. The surgeons had never seen anything like it before.
If you need to keep warm wear a helmet liner.
